It turns out not everyone wants to work with Justin Bieber these days.
Nintendo has apparently rejected a request to use the “Super Mario Bros.” theme music in Bieber’s upcoming 3D biopic-concert movie spectacular Never Say Never. The film’s director, John Chu, tweeted his disappointment in failing to secure permission for a snippet of the iconic music: “as C’mon Nintendo! Y won’t u let us use the Mario theme for 15 secs in the @Justinbieber movie… talk about free advertising passed up. Oops”
We’re not quite sure how Mario fits into Bieber’s story – and now we may never know.
Gossip Cop is waiting to hear back from Nintendo.
Never Say Never comes to theaters on February 11.
