Thomas McDonell may have already went to Prom with Disney, but he’s back in high school in The Spectacular Now.
According to Variety (via ComingSoon), the up and coming actor has scored the lead role in the new flick directed by Lee Toland Kreiger and produced by Shawn Levy.
Based on the novel by Tim Tharp, the story centers on a high school senior (McDonell) who lives only for the moment. As a project, he begins to date a social outcast, a girl trying to plan for the future, but begins to realize he has the power to permanently impact someone’s life.
The Spectacular Now is set to hit theaters in 2012.
