Dr. Conrad Murray has been ordered to stand trial for the death of Michael Jackson.
Judge Michael Pastor determined there is enough evidence against Murray to merit a manslaughter trial. The ruling comes after a preliminary hearing that lasted six days and included testimony from medical experts and law enforcement officials.
“It was not Michael Jackson’s time to go,” argued David Walgren, the Deputy District Attorney. “Because of Dr. Murray’s actions, Michael’s children are left without a father.”
A conviction could mean 4 years in prison for Murray.
Additionally, as a condition for bail, the judge ordered that Murray’s license to practice medicine be suspended.
Jackson died of a prescription drug overdose under Murray’s care in June 2009.
