Hailee Steinfeld goes back to her roots as she shoots for her hometown magazine, Westlake Magazine.
The 14-year-old Oscar nominee opens up to the mag about her brother sending her messages, Hailee Steinfeld and getting recognized in public. Check it:
On getting recognized: “I have heard people say something a few times. More and more because people are starting to see me on talk shows and as me, where in the movie I don’t really look like myself. I went to the Nordstrom Rack twice recently and got recognized both times. It’s really weird but cool and people of all ages. The girl this last time was like ‘Are you…’, she couldn’t even speak. She was blushing.”
On the messages between brother Griffin and her: “I think we have gotten closer. He’s gotten really cool with texting me and seeing how I am doing. [On my way to my last audition] before I went in and read, he said, ‘Hey Beau [her nickname], good luck today. Go kill ‘em.’…I got really emotional. It was big because I usually text him first, like ‘Drive safe,’ but now he starts it. When I talk about my brother in public, it is fun to say he is an established racer. It all goes back to our parents because they really support us and what we love.”
On Justin Bieber: “I was so excited [to be presenting with him at the Golden Globes]! He was really sweet. His movie is so good because it is such a great story. My brother being a 17-year-old guy even liked it.”
Hailee was also spotted out with her family on Saturday afternoon (March 5) heading into the Gibson Amphitheater at Universal City Walk to check out the 2011 West Coast Champions tournament, Dance, Cheer and All Star Championship.
